SEAY
FIRST GENERATION



William SEE/SEAY was born on 16 Feb 1834 in GA.  He served with the Confederate States Army between 1 Oct 1861 and Feb 1864.  Wm See was listed as on extra duty as Brig. Smith on the company muster roll for 31 Oct 1863 to 29 Feb 1864.  On the company muster roll for 30 Jun to 31 Dec 1863, Wm See was listed as on detach duty as Black Smith.  He appeared on the census in 1910 in Forest Twp., Tecumseh, Pottawatomie Co., OK.  He moved to OK during the land rush.  During the Oklahoma land run, William C. SEAY Sr. and William Joseph SEE settled on Tucker Road near what is now Shawnee, OK.  He died on 24 Jan 1917 in Tecumseh, Pottawatomie Co., OK.  William C. Seay was buried in Tecumseh Mission Cemetery, Tecumseh, Pottawatomie Co., OK.  His burial plot location is Row 2, Block 35, 1st Addition.

He was married to Jestinah M. "Chessie" COWAN (daughter of James H. COWAN and Nancy MURPHY) on 04 May 1865 in Lawrence Co., AL.  He is listed as William See in Lawrence Co., AL marriages.  Jestinah COWAN was born on 16 Jan 1848 in AL.  Chessie and George Norris (son) stayed in AL when William first moved to OK.  She stayed in AL to sell their property and then came to OK.  She appeared on the census in 1910 in Forest Twp., Tecumseh, Pottawatomie Co., OK.  Jestinah died on 4 Mar 1918 in Tecumseh, Pottawatomie Co., OK.  The death certificate list the cause of death as pneumonia.  She was buried in Tecumseh Mission Cemetery, Tecumseh, Pottawatomie Co., OK.  Her burial plot location is also Row 2, Block 35, 1st Addition.

William SEAY and Jestinah M. "Chessie" COWAN had the following children:

child iv. Andrew SEAY was born in Landersville, Lawrence Co., AL.  During his teens he was kicked by a horse which resulted in his death.
