Thomas Floyd "Floyd" LaViness was born on 10 Apr 1878 in PA.  He was born near Bradford, McKean Co., PA.  He appeared on the census in 1900 in Lima, Allen Co., OH.  He appeared on the census in 1910 in OH.  He was living between 1911 and 1914 in Lima, Allen Co., OH.  He was living in Nov 1916 in Drumright, Creek Co., OK.  Thomas Floyd purchased lot 38, block 6, North side of Federal Street on 23 Nov 1916.  He appeared on the census in 1920 in Drumright, Creek Co., OK.  He died on 14 Apr 1928 in Hominy, Osage Co., OK.  Thomas Floyd and his son, Donivan, both worked for the Tidal, aka Tide Water, Oil Company when Thomas Floyd died.  He was a pumper.  They both lived at Hominy when Thomas Floyd died.  He was buried in Hominy Cemetery, Hominy, Osage Co., OK.  The undertaker was listed as Hominy Funeral Home.

He was married to Merley Bell Bird (daughter of Birtus J. Bird and Mary Elva Hawk) on 29 Oct 1899.  Merley Bell Bird was born on 25 Aug 1880 in Jackson Twp., Allen Co., OH.  She appeared on the census in 1900 in Lima, Allen Co., OH.  She appeared on the census in 1910 in OH.  She appeared on the census in 1920 in Drumright, Creek Co., OK.  She was living on 25 Mar 1925 in Drumright, Creek Co., OK.  She was living in Apr 1928 in Drumright, Creek Co., OK.  She moved to Sarcoxie, MO between Apr 1928 and 1932.  Merley married Clarence Shulaw and lived in Allen Co, OH.  She died on 12 Jun 1957 in Jackson Twp., Allen Co., OH.  Merley was buried on 15 Jun 1957 in West Point Cemetery, Jackson Twp., Allen Co., OH.

Thomas Floyd LaViness and Merley Bell Bird had the following children:

child ii. Raymond Edward LaViness was born on 1 Sep 1902 in OH.  He appeared on the census in 1910 in OH.  He died on 27 Oct 1919 in Drumright, Creek Co., OK.  Diabetes mellitus was the cause of death.  Raymond was buried in Drumright, Creek Co., OK.

Floyd Laviness

      Mr. Floyd Laviness, was born, April 10, 1878, near Bradford, Penn., died at his home in Wildhorse, April 14, 1928, age 50 years and four days.
      He was united in marriage to Miss Merlie Belle Bird, October 29, 1899 and to this union were born four children; One daughter, Wenona Huntsinger, of Wildhorse; Three sons, Raymond, Donivan, Melvin.   Raymond passed to that great beyond at the age of seventeen and was buried at Drumright.
      There is left to mourn his departure, his wife, Mrs. Merlie Bell Laviness, two sons, Donivan and Melvin of Drumright, his only daughter, Mrs. Wenona Huntsinger, of Wildhorse, his aged father, M. F. Laviness, of Drumright, three sisters, Mrs. Irene Mack, Mrs. Cora Vanory, of Drumright, and Mrs. Grace Wethrom, of Lima, Ohio.
      Mr. Laviness was a member of the K. F. P. lodge, No 289 for the past eleven years.  Had taken the Intered Apprintice, and Fellow Craft, of the Masonic, lodge, and was a member of the I. O. O. F. for a number of years.
      Funeral services was conducted by Rev. J. A. Nayle, assisted by Rev. H. C. Mears, from Wildhorse, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church and interment was made in the Hominy cemetery.

Mrs. Merley Shulaw

      Bluffton-Mrs. Merley Shulaw, 75, of Rt.. 1 Laffayette, died at 6:30 p.m. yesterday at her home after an illness of 3 1\2 years.  She was born Aug. 23, 1880 in Jackson Township.
      She was a member of the Liberty Chapel Methodist Church.
      She is survived by her husband, Clarence, a daughter, Mrs. Winona Hunsicker of Sanford, Florida, two sons Donovin LaViness of Shawnee, Okla. and Melvin LeViness of Ada, four step-sons, Woodrow Shulaw and Willard Shulaw, both of Ada, Robert Shulaw of Toledo and Francis of Michigan, two stepdaughters Mrs. Lester Young and Mrs Wilber Amstutz, both of Bluffton, one sister Mrs. Essie Young of Rockford, Ill, eight grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren, 13 step grandchildren and three step great grandchildren.
      Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:30p.m. at West Point Methodist Church with Rev. J. O. Dearing officiating and burial will be in West Point Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Paul Diller Funeral Home.
